The ensemble is formed by four Chilean musicians living in Austria, and has been performing for over ten years. In line with SIMUC's endeavors, Chilean music is a primary highlight of the program, including pieces by Antonio Restucci, José Zapiola, Luis Advis, Víctor Jara, Claudio Acevedo, Javier Party and others. With a distinctive combination of instruments: violin, cello, double bass and guitar, Patagonien Quartett has successfully performed throughout Austria, Chile, and Italy, where they won the first prize in a music competition. This concert is a musical commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the coup d'état that occurred in Chile in 1973. We thank the Chilean embassy in Austria and the DIRAC for their support.
