Spirited Flutes in York

We are happy to bring Chilean-Scottish flute and recorder duo SPIRITED FLUTES to York. Spirited Flutes brings together Carmen Troncoso (Chile) and Jennifer Cohen (Scotland), members of the music staff at the University of York. Both performers are experts in baroque music and also seek to explore possible sound and material combinations by collaborating with contemporary composers in the creation of new repertoire for recorder and flute. This concert combines different recorders and the flute. Wood and metal instruments playing works by Chilean composers and recalling baroque sonatas. Flutes turning into birds and mysterious autumn leaves uttering spirited sounds. A brief tour portraying historical periods and musical styles. A unique sound world.
